Trial Lawyer OrlandoHow long will it take for my case to be completed?

Depending on whether your case goes to trial or is settled, it may take anywhere from a few weeks to months to complete your case. Some extremely complicated cases may even take a year or more. The important thing to remember is that your case needs to be comprehensively examined in order to make sure that, in the end, you get all of the financial compensation to which you are entitled.

Will my case go to court?

It depends on several different factors. If you get a settlement offer from an insurance company or other party and it seems to match what we feel your case is worth, you may choose to settle. If you have an extremely strong case or the settlement offer just isn’t good enough, we will recommend that you go to court to get the financial damages that you deserve.

Will I get compensatory damages?

Compensatory damages refer to financial compensation to compensate you for your personal injury. Sometimes these are also called actual damages. Judges usually instruct a jury to award damages that are considered reasonable for the personal injury which you suffered. If we win your case, you will receive some sort of compensatory damages.

Will I receive punitive damages?

Punitive damages refer to additional damages which are awarded as financial compensation to punish the wrongdoer who caused your personal injury. Although you may have heard of huge punitive damage awards, appeals courts often reduce or even eliminate punitive damages. So the chances that you will receive punitive damages are relatively slim. However, sometimes just the threat of punitive damages is enough to get the defendant to offer a larger settlement amount.
